Majors Hill Park Family Photo Session. Being a photographer in Ottawa means I am always scouting new locations, even when I am out with my own family. I keep a long list of potential spots, and I visit each one during different seasons to see how it looks. When I choose a new location, I think about everything from how easy it is to find, to how busy it gets at the time of day I want to shoot, to whether any Ottawa events might make it tricky for clients to get there. Over the last few years, I have been exploring several new places in central Ottawa, and my clients love having photos taken in spots that feel unique to the city.
Majors Hill Park quickly became a favourite. It has beautiful gardens, manicured lawns, and a clear view of the Chateau Laurier. The combination of greenery and historic architecture gives every session a polished, classic feel. One day, when the renovations are finally finished, I hope to include the Parliament buildings in photos as well.
One of the perks of this location is that families can turn photo night into an outing. After the session, you can wander through the ByWard Market, grab dinner, or enjoy a treat.
Stay tuned, because I have another downtown location that I hope to debut in 2027. I cannot wait to share it with you and add another beautiful Ottawa spot to the list.
