If you’ve been searching for Ottawa mini sessions, you may have noticed that most photographers offer quick, back-to-back sessions where families arrive, smile for a few minutes, and move on. While my sessions are shorter than a traditional full-length family session, they work a little differently.
After 15 years as a professional photographer and more than 6,000 family sessions photographed, I’ve learned how to work efficiently without sacrificing quality or connection. My shorter sessions are possible because of experience, not because I’m rushing you through a production line.
Before your session, we plan together. I take the time to get to know your family, learn your names, understand what types of photos you love, and discuss your priorities for the session. When you arrive, you’re not just another time slot on my calendar. I already know what we’re creating together. This approach allows us to make the most of our time and focus on the images that matter most to you. The result is a relaxed, efficient experience that still feels personal and tailored to your family.
But what about all the digital files?
Another thing that sets my sessions apart is what happens after your photos are taken. I don’t hand over dozens of minimally edited digital files and send you on your way. Instead, I carefully edit your favourite images from your session. Your session fee also includes beautiful gift prints because I believe family photos deserve to be seen and enjoyed.
The reality is that the more photos we have, the less we tend to do with them. Most digital images end up sitting on phones, computers, and hard drives, rarely being viewed. My goal is for your images to end up on your walls, in frames, and in albums where your family can enjoy them every day. When you have a smaller collection of images you love, your photos don’t become digital clutter. It’s easier to create gallery walls, update photo frames, and have small prints created or family members.
Shorter sessions don’t have to mean a less personalized experience. In fact, when they’re planned properly and guided by years of experience, they can be every bit as meaningful as a longer session.
