Ottawa Newborn Photography – Family memories. One of my favourite parts of planning a newborn photography session is seeing the inspiration photos families send me. Every Ottawa newborn photographer has their own style, but when a client brings a few images from a previous newborn session that they want to recreate, I get genuinely excited. There is something incredibly sweet about displaying matching poses of each baby side by side.
As part of the planning process, I always encourage clients to send their favourite photos from my website, blog, or social media. This gives me a clear idea of the colours, poses, and overall style that matter most to you. It also helps us stay aligned on what your final gallery will look like. Think of it as a visual wish list that guides the session.
What I do not ask for are inspiration photos from other photographers. It is not because I do not admire their work. It is simply because every photographer uses different props, lighting setups, backdrops, and editing styles. Trying to recreate someone else’s image without their tools is a bit like trying to make a gourmet meal without the right ingredients. You might get something close, but it will not be what you expected. It is important that the images you reference reflect what I can create for you.
When families bring photos from their previous newborn sessions, I always do my best to match the light, colour, and posing if I have the right props and accessories available. I love knowing those images will sit side by side in your home and tell the story of each baby’s earliest days.
