Winter Weather | Pregnancy Photoshoot Ottawa. Winter might not be the first season that comes to mind for maternity photos, but it offers beautiful backdrop for meaningful photos.
I choose locations that make winter sessions as easy as possible. I ensure there is parking close to where we shoot, and trails to make it easier to get to the winter scenes. The forested paths block the wind and give us a few different scenes within a small area. You never need to hike through deep snow or wander far to get variety in your gallery.
Warm layers make a big difference. Clients wear leggings, sweaters and thick socks, and I bring hot pockets to tuck into mittens. We slip coats on between shots and keep moving so the cold doesn’t settle in. Because we keep moving, and chatting, most people are surprised by how quickly the time passes.
A winter maternity session also gives you a meaningful way to remember this season of your life. You carried your baby through real Canadian weather, and that experience becomes part of your story. One day you can tell your child about the winter you waited for them and what those months meant to you.
Winter brings its own kind of beauty to maternity session. With the right location, lots of layers, and planning and preparation, your maternity photos can feel natural, unique and full of quiet warmth.
