Ottawa Newborn Photos with flowers. As an Ottawa newborn photographer, I’m always looking for ways to create variety during a session—without overwhelming baby or making the process complicated for parents. During a recent session, we did just that using… one single bouquet of flowers. Yes, one! With a bit of creativity and planning, that small bouquet helped us create several unique looks.

A Classic, Timeless Look Without Florals

We started the session with classic and timeless photos. No flowers. No props. Just soft wraps, neutral textures, and simple posing. These photos are always client favourites. They’re clean, elegant, and they’ll never go out of style—perfect for albums and wall art.

Greenery-Only for a Natural, Elegant Contrast

Next, we changed the look entirely using just the greenery from the bouquet. By removing the blossoms and tucking lush green stems around and beneath light-coloured props, we created rich contrast and depth. The greenery brought a natural, organic feel to the images and paired beautifully with soft whites and creams. It’s amazing how much visual interest a few sprigs of eucalyptus or fern can add.

A Personal Touch: Using Mom’s Favourite Flowers

And finally—this is my favourite part—we incorporated mom’s favourite flowers into the session. We placed a few around the edges of the prop, and used others to frame a close-up. Not only did it make for stunning photos, but it added a beautiful personal touch. These were her flowers, chosen with love. And now they’re forever part of her baby’s first portraits.

One Bouquet, Three Unique Styles

It’s proof that you don’t need a huge floral installation to get a custom look. With just one bouquet, we created three completely different styles—timeless, earthy, and romantic.
