As a maternity photographer in Ottawa, I suggest clients book their session in the second trimester. Maternity sessions are held around 30-34 weeks along giving us plenty of time to take care of the planning. Maternity Sessions are fun to plan with each session uniquely styled.

I love this stunning mom-to-be’s gallery. She had wonderful ideas but was also excited to hear what ideas we had. It was so much fun to collaborate with her as an Ottawa maternity photographer and see it all come together!

She knew from the start she wanted to borrow items from my client closet. So we asked her to let us know which gowns and fabrics were her favourites. Her favourite outfits, an emailed photo of herself, and a list important photos was all we needed to get started on the planning.

Session planning as a maternity photographer in Ottawa

We suggested my white lace gown as her first outfit. It suited her beautifully and was ideal for including the bare belly photos she had on her ‘must have’ list!

The mom-to-be chose to use one of my fabrics as her second outfit. As a maternity photographer in Ottawa I’ve noticed fabrics becoming increasingly popular. Fabrics allow for a lot of creativity, they are a wonderful outfit option. To create a much different look for her second outfit, we suggested a jewel toned fabric to wrap around her and to “flow” behind her. She chose a vibrant purple fabric that we all agreed would look gorgeous on her.

Once we had the photos and outfits planned all we had left to decide on was the backdrop. For their Ottawa maternity session, the parents-to-be wanted me as the photographer to choose the backdrop. With the white gown and the rich purple I knew my light grey backdrop would be gorgeous!
