First birthday photos can be as fancy or as laid back as you’d like them to be. One of my favourite things about first birthday sessions is how unique each session is. When styling a first birthday session we ask our clients to share details about their baby and their preferred look. It’s important to us that every client has just the right “look” and session experience. Because no two families are alike, neither are their little one’s first birthday sessions.

To celebrate Baby S’s first birthday, her family booked a studio session to capture fancy birthday portraits and updated family photos. A milestone birthday is the perfect time for updated family photos! In the busy-ness of day-to-day life we don’t often have a chance to get in the photo with our children. At least not in a way that gives you time to prepare and lets you put your best foot forward. Booking a session with your family gives you the opportunity to let someone else take care of all of the details. I love helping my clients ensure they have beautiful photos of them enjoying time together but in the easiest and stress-free way possible.

Outfits for fancy first birthday photos

Mom and dad found wonderful outfits for their fancy first birthday photos with Baby S. Outfit selection is a great way to incorporate your own personal sense of style into your photos. We worked together to select just the right cream backdrop for their outfits that also helped keep the focus on the gorgeous family and their interactions together. Fancy first birthday photos can include the more traditional, posed family photos at the same time as including candid photos. When family members are young, candid, cuddly shots are always welcome. They’re a great way to capture a family’s changing relationship with their child.

Before finishing up her first birthday session, Baby S changed into a beautiful rose coloured dress. The fancy dress was perfect for first birthday photos and looked wonderful on this beautiful baby girl. I photographed her in her dress against one of my favourite toddler backdrops. The pink flowers matched her pretty dress perfectly. Baby S was an absolute joy to photograph and I’m thrilled with her fancy first birthday photos. Happy birthday little one!
