Their maternity session fell on a day with a beautiful fresh dusting of snow. We don’t often have such pretty snow in November so we were feeling pretty lucky on the day of their session. What a perfect setting for a Winter baby’s maternity session!

I first met this soon-to-be big sister at her newborn session. She has grown and changed so much since I’d seen her last! I can hardly believe it has already been almost two years since her newborn session. I’m so excited for this family to be welcoming baby number two in just a few short weeks.

When we styled their maternity session we had no way of knowing whether there would be fresh snow on the ground or not yet. Mom and dad knew they wanted an evergreen trees location though so I kept that in mind whenever I was out and about location scouting in November. I was thrilled to find this ideal setting for their photos, it is beautiful both with and without snow on the ground.

Their maternity session in the fresh snow

The setting was a great location for a family centered and candidly styled session. As I guided and posed the family for their photos we kept moving. A maternity session in the fresh snow can be a bit chilly if you stay still but keeping the activity going helps everyone stay warm. Movement is also perfect for keeping toddlers happy and engaged while taking photos. Cuddles with mommy, swinging in between mom and dad, and even a sleigh ride. Miss L had so much fun!

We kept the session moving and focused on capturing this lovely family enjoying time together. In between games and playtime with big sister we paused to capture quiet moments of mom and dad together and portraits of the gorgeous second time mama-to-be. She is so excited to meet her little one and is absolutely glowing.

What a fabulous time we had at their maternity session in the fresh snow. I am thrilled for the three of them to be expecting their newest family member soon. I can’t wait to meet them at their upcoming newborn session!
