Her Ottawa studio maternity photos are absolutely gorgeous! What an amazing memento for this lovely couple to have as they welcome their first baby into their family.

Maternity photos are one of those things we don’t always realize how important they are until it’s too late and baby is born. For this reason, I am always so thrilled when excited parents-to-be contact me during pregnancy about booking a maternity session. The beautiful memories we capture at a maternity session are something the parents will treasure for a lifetime. The photos are also something that they can show and pass down to their children once they’re older. Looking back at the excitement their parents had leading up to their arrival is something all children love to do.

For this lovely couple’s Ottawa studio maternity photo session we planned a variety of different looks, outfits, and backdrops. In the planning stages of their session, we learned more about the gowns, poses, and style that they enjoy for their photos. In the plan for their session we included intimate portraits of the couple together as well as photos of the gorgeous mom-to-be on her own.

At their Ottawa studio maternity photo session

To start off their session, mom changed into my new lace maternity gown that has quickly become one of my favourite options for both outdoor and studio photos. The feminine lace was so pretty against the bright white dream light that mom posed in front of for photos that captured the shape of her baby belly.

We couldn’t decide between my grey flowy fabric and my grey gown for photos of mom against the light grey backdrop so we included both. As expected, she looked absolutely stunning in both grey options so I’m really glad we decided to include both outfits for her Ottawa studio maternity photos.

To add in a colourful outfit, mom had selected to use my rich burgundy gown. The colour was amazing on her! The combination of the sheer fabric and slit also allowed me to photograph her in different ways that showed off her perfect baby bump. Dad had found a matching dress shirt in burgundy that was ideal for capturing candid photos of the excited couple together.

I’m so excited for this lovely couple and honoured they trusted me to capture this exciting time in their lives. I can’t wait to meet their baby soon at their newborn session!
