This family’s newborn baby girl was so curious and cuddly! Baby A’s family was so much fun, and she was an absolute dream to photograph. She was only five days old when she came into the studio for her session but already so alert and curious. Born quite a bit over her due date she seemed intent not to miss out on any more of the fun.
We started this curious and cuddly baby girl’s newborn session capturing an updated family photo with their newest family member. Her proud big brother happily posed for photos with her. He is already so good with his sister and will be such an excellent help with her.
Before dad and big brother headed out of the studio after family photos, we posed everyone’s hands around the curious and cuddly baby girl. The photo with all of her family members’ hands on her against a black backdrop turned out beautifully. These types of artistic photos are such a great record of how small baby is. They also make wonderful birth announcements and wall art in the family home. I’m always thrilled to include a special photo of baby on black in hands when clients request it.
The curious and cuddly baby girl’s portraits
After family photos were complete and it was just mom and I with Baby A we moved onto the ‘in props’ portion of their session. Photos taken in props is a gorgeous way to photograph a newborn baby. I love how tiny and curled up babies look posed in props. This cuddly and curious baby girl was born weighing ten pounds. While she may not be tiny for a newborn, the props do show off how small she is and are a beautiful memento of her early days.
Mom and dad had let me know which types of props they like as well as their favourite fabric and accessory colours. A mix of turquoise, florals, and creams were a very pretty choice and set off her dark hair beautifully. Being so curious and cuddly, baby girl watched me carefully as I nestled her into the different props I had selected for her photos. She was fine with me moving her around and into position for her photos even when awake.
I had such a wonderful time photographing her and her lovely family. I am honoured they selected me to capture these incredibly special moments in the first few days after their baby’s birth.
