The love of a family goes far beyond the walls of your home. Our children’s grandparents, their aunts and uncles, and their cousins are all an important part of our family’s stories.
Our Extended Family Sessions focus on the connection and relationships amongst the different generations of your family.
After many requests from clients, I’m thrilled to be offering a limited number of Extended Family Sessions in 2023.
Many clients have shared that they found previous extended family sessions to be too long, too chaotic and too overwhelming. Clients have also found the burden of making arrangements for all of the family members and coordinating outfits too much for one person. After taking into consideration what clients have told me about their experiences elsewhere, I have created a session for those who would like an experience much like my family sessions, but for their extended family too.
As a full time photographer with 12 years experience, as well as a former therapist, my speciality is helping families to connect with one another in a meaningful way during their session.
What we offer:
- Casual posing and meaningful interactions between different generations
What we don’t offer:
- Traditional posed portraits with a focus on hair, clothing, and hand and body placement
Three Extended Family Session Options:
A) Two Generations (for your children and one or two grandparents), $375+ HST
- Sessions are 20 minutes long and are for your children and one or two grandparents.
- Includes 5 edited, retouched, and artistically enhanced digital files of your choice in colour and 3 complimentary gift prints
B) Three Generations – Memories Session (for up to 7 family members), $729+ HST
- Sessions are 30 minutes long and perfect for photos with grandparents; cousin photographs; or photos with a favourite aunt and uncle
- Includes 8 edited, retouched, and artistically enhanced digital files of your choice in colour and 5 complimentary gift prints
C) Three Generations – Extraordinary Session (for 8 to 12 family members), $899+ HST
- Sessions are 40 minutes long and perfect for including both sets of grandparents or for larger groups of family members
- We are happy to provide a custom quote if you have more than 12 family members who would like to participate
- Includes 12 edited, retouched, and artistically enhanced digital files of your choice and 8 complimentary gift prints of your choice
Is this right session for my family?
While my client experience will be the same as it is for all of my other sessions, there are unique challenges when planning for a session beyond your immediate family. Read on for all of the session planning details to confirm these sessions are the right fit for your extended family:
- Sessions will be available on specific dates in in June, July and August.
- Sessions will be offered at select locations.
- Sessions are not intended to replace a regular family photography session. The focus of these sessions is solely on extended family members in a variety of groupings.
- Sessions are a combination of casual posing and candid moments.
- Session planning is done by our Session Coordinator with all adult family members’ participation.
- Family members must be available on both the scheduled date, as well as the backup rain date.
- Extended family sessions are only available to previous clients who have had at least two sessions with Sara McConnell Photography.
- A great deal of planning and preparation goes into planning for these special sessions. We reserve the right to cancel the session, at any time, if family members are disrespectful to any member of our team or refuse to participate in the planning process.
- Our sessions focus on joyful and connected photos. If you are looking for traditional posed portraits with a focus on hair, clothing and posing, these sessions aren’t the right fit for your family.
