Their Ottawa Fall maternity session took place in one of my favourite local forests and on a beautiful, warm day this October. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, we were so lucky!

These lovely first-time parents are so excited to meet their little girl later this Fall. A maternity session was the perfect way to celebrate and capture all of their excitement. They were a lot of fun to photograph and I’m really looking forward to seeing them again at their newborn session later this Fall.

Every Fall the leaves change differently in Ottawa making the backdrop for their maternity session a bit of a surprise when they booked it weeks ahead of time. This year I found the leaves stayed in the trees much longer than they typically do. No matter what species of tree or leaf colour, the leaves all seemed especially vibrant this year as well. As a photographer who spends many hours scouring for locations this made me especially happy. I had so many great location options to choose from for Fall sessions this year!

Their Ottawa Fall maternity session

For their Ottawa Fall maternity session, mom found a stunning dress in a rich purple that showed off her perfect baby bump beautifully. Paired with tall Fall boots, she absolutely nailed a stylish Fall look for photos in the colourful forest.

We started their session with photos of the happy couple together before mixing it up with maternity portraits of the stunning mom-to-be on her own. They enjoy the look of candid photos so we included lots of movement during their session. In between action photos, we took pauses to capture some quieter, more intimate portraits of the parents-to-be with their baby.

I remember well how exciting and filled with wonder about baby the last few weeks before baby arrives are. It’s an incredible time filled with anticipation. I can’t wait for them to be holding their baby in their arms soon and am so looking forward to meeting her at their newborn session.
