Their Orleans newborn session was a beautiful mix of intimate family photos and adorable posed photos of their baby girl. I photographed these wonderful first-time parents on the beach this July at their maternity session. We had such an incredible time on the beach capturing their excitement about meeting their little girl. On the beach we focused on photographing the beautiful mom-to-be’s baby bump but also the couple’s connection and love for each other through candid photos. It was important to the couple that we also include candid photos as a part of their Orleans newborn baby photo session. In planning their session, we made a plan to include lots of cuddly and interactive family photos. I guide interactions between family members and ways of holding baby when I take candid family photos. Photographing parents as they enjoy time with their baby is a beautiful way to capture those first early newborn days. My favourite newborn photos always include images of parents while they are looking adoringly at their baby.
Their Orleans newborn baby photo session
On the day of their Orleans newborn baby photo session, I was overjoyed to meet Miss A. She was absolutely adorable and such a cuddly, curled up little one. I was more than happy to cuddle her and soothe her into position. First on her mom and dad for their family photos and then posed on the posing cushion and in props for her portraits.
I carried the beautiful and soft natural light in the backdrop of their family photos through to Baby A’s portraits. Pulling from her parents’ chosen fabric and accessory colours and keeping with the light and airy look of her family photos I styled a variety of set-ups for her Orleans baby newborn session. The soft colours in the props and on the posing cushions looked lovely as a backdrop for her photos. I love how sweetly her adorable little features were captured as she snoozed away on the different layers of fabrics.
It was joy to photograph this family of three at their session and I’m thrilled with their photos. They now have a gorgeous gallery of maternity, family and newborn photos that will display beautifully on the walls of their home.
