This baby boy was five weeks old at the time of his newborn session. He could not have been any cuter. I love his wide-eyed looks and the way he focused on mom and dad. He was a little bit older than most newborns are at a newborn session. Because of his age he was awake more often but his photos turned out beautifully. Capturing the connection he already has with mom and dad was a highlight! It was also a special perk to being a bit older for newborn photos. His parents are this baby boy’s entire world at only five weeks old and he barely took his eyes off of them.

I took lots of candid photos of this wonderful family of three. Candid photos are perfect for capturing relationships between family members. The candid photos from a newborn session are always such a beautiful and special memento. As hard as it was to take their eyes off their sweet little five week old baby boy, we also included a posed photo of the family. Even families who love and prefer candid photos enjoy having a beautiful, posed family photo to share with their family and friends.

The five week old baby boy’s portraits

For this five week old baby boy’s individual portraits, mom and dad opted to include a couple of special mementos. A police forge cap and a kilt are incredibly meaningful items. I’ve incorporated them into newborn sessions for many of my clients. I love that this family has beautiful photos of their baby with both items as they will be forever treasured.

We finished up Baby N’s newborn session with photos of him posed in wooden props with layers of different colours of fabrics. As I wrapped and posed him, he cat napped, dozing a bit in between photos. He seemed not very keen to miss out on what was going on around him. As I photographed him, he would look around the room and then back and me, showing off his growing awareness of the world around him. This baby boy was such a joy to photograph at five weeks of age. I’m thrilled for his parents to have welcomed him into their family.
