Her beautiful beach maternity session was rained out on our original date but Mother Nature more than made up for it. Clear skies, a warm breeze, and the most beautiful cotton candy clouds made a gorgeous setting for their maternity session.

I absolutely love the outdoors as a setting for photography sessions. The unpredictability of Mother Nature does make planning sessions a bit tricky at times though. For every outdoor session I book I put aside a rain date, just in case of inclement weather. That means we all have the dates put aside in our calendars and we’re ready with our backup plan.

Meeting up at the beach for their beautiful maternity session

When it poured on their original session date I was relieved to see the following day’s forecast was dry. On the evening of our backup date, we met up at the sandy beach for their beautiful maternity session. The beach is one of my favourite session locations for families expecting late Summer and early Fall babies. These excited first time parents agreed and couldn’t wait to create special memories together on the beach.

The beautiful mom-to-be arrived at her session in a pretty sundress that had just the right beachy vibes for the location and showed off her perfect baby bump. As I guided them through their first set of photos we chatted and got to know each other. Meeting new people is one of the best parts of my job and the beach atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed session together.

Mom had chosen two maternity gowns from my studio’s collection for her session. Including maternity gowns from my collection is a great way to add more variety to a session. The grey gown was beautiful on her at their beach maternity session but I think the lacy white gown has to be my favourite on her. The soft and delicate lace suited her so well and matched the beachy, relaxed vibe of their session.

As the sun lowered in the sky the cloud cover lifted and gave us a gorgeous sunset with fluffy, scattered clouds. I love creating special silhouette photos for expectant parents and this was the perfect opportunity. The photos of the beautiful mom-to-be against the backdrop of the setting sun are magical!
