Custom Newborn Session in Ottawa

I love their photos from their custom newborn session in Ottawa. This adorable baby’s parents were recently in the studio for their maternity session. After meeting them at their maternity session I was so excited to see them again soon with their new baby. Baby E was only 7 days old on the day of his custom newborn session. He was so tiny and still all curled up like he was when he was still inside of his mother.

He might have been a sleepy and curled up newborn but that didn’t mean he didn’t love stretching out his legs and kicking every now and then. According to his mom his love of kicking started long before he was born. It’s always incredible to me how babies’ habits and likes start developing even before they’re born.

We started the planning for their Ottawa custom newborn session weeks before Baby E arrived. It is best to have all of the details taken care of weeks before a clients’ due date. When the sleepless nights begin, choosing the different fabric colours, backdrops, etc. can be a bit more challenging. Checking another thing off the baby to-do list always feels wonderful!

Baby E’s Custom Newborn Session in Ottawa

I started their custom newborn session in Ottawa with their family photos. It can be pretty warm in the studio when it’s time for baby’s individual photos so it’s best for fresh hair and makeup that we start with parent and family photos. New parents are also tired and would love to sit and relax as soon as possible. A couch is ready for the parents of my newborn clients to sit on while their baby’s individual photos are being taken. Sometimes there is even the odd nap taken on it by a new parent!

For Baby E’s photos, mom and dad selected a beautiful variety of image types for his first photos. We included photos on my posing cushion, sleepy photos in props, close up macro photos, and a gorgeous photo taken on black with him in his parents’ hands. His parents also chose to include two stunning custom newborn composite art pieces created using digital backdrops.

This sweet baby boy was a joy to photograph. I’m so happy for his parents and can’t wait to see them again in the future.
