His Orleans first birthday cake smash session was incredible!
This adorable little boy is the fourth son in this amazing family. I have been lucky enough to photograph them all, from their newborn sessions all throughout their first years of life. It has been a joy watching them all grow from behind my camera.
I first met Mr. E at his newborn session last Spring when he was only three weeks old. What a difference a year makes! He has changed from a sweet and sleepy newborn to a happy and curious boy eager to keep up with his brothers.
As a Baby’s First Year package client we have been meeting up for milestone photos every four months since his newborn session. It had been just four months since I’d seem him last but he was already so different at his Orleans first birthday cake smash.
Their last family photos were taken at Mr. E’s newborn session so we started his first birthday session with an updated family photo. We made sure everyone had a turn for photos with the birthday boy before bringing out the cake. A cake can be pretty exciting when you’re 5, 4, 2, or 1 years old so we thought it was best to leave it until the end.
The boys were all excited to be in the studio for photos. It was the older boys’ first time at my new location so there was lots for them to see. They were excellent posers though and were really helpful with their baby brother. He’s a lucky little boy to have so many wonderful big brothers looking out for him.

Once we had finished all of the family and sibling photos it was time to turn the focus of the session to the birthday boy. Mom and dad has selected two of my new fun toddler backdrops for his birthday photos. The fun and colourful backdrops were perfect for festive first birthday photos and worked beautifully with his adorable outfits.
I thought Mr. E was excited when we showed him all of the balloons we had for him. But when mom and dad brought out his cake and he realized it was all for him his expression was priceless!
You never know quite how a baby will react to having their very own cake but Baby E thought that it was a great idea. He loved tasting the icing and I was thrilled to be able to capture all of his different expressions as he dove into his cake.
