A second birthday photography session is always a lot of fun. Toddlers always bring the fun to the party with them! I offer birthday sessions for toddlers and children of all ages because every birthday is a wonderful reason for updated photos.

Our first session together was a front porch session (like this one) in the early days of the pandemic. I was thrilled that this year little Mr. D’s second birthday photography session was able to be held in my new studio.

Mom and dad came along to the party so we could include updated family photos as a part of the session. When your children are little they grow so quickly. Having beautiful photos all together throughout your children’s different ages and stages is a treasure.

Mr. D thought my photo taking was a lot of fun. He thought I was hilarious and was full of smiles for his photos with mom and dad.

Planning a second birthday photography session

When sessions are for toddlers I know I will need to work quickly and keep the session fast and fun. My littlest clients are superstars but I know their attention spans can be short. Before all of my sessions we plan out all of the different photos and poses as well as backdrops and outfits. This means that as soon as a client comes through the door of my studio we can start the session.

Once their family photos were finished Mr. D got changed into one of the cutest birthday outfits I’ve ever seen. He looked so dapper for his birthday photography session!

Just before his session I had received new toddler backdrops. Mom and dad were excited to find that the new rainbow balloon backdrop was available. It was perfect for his chosen outfit and ideal for a fun and playful second birthday photography session.

The surprise hit of the morning was the white balloons I had set up for his special birthday backdrop. He loved to play with them and was thrilled to take them home after his session. I hope the fun continued at home with his balloons long after our session together.
