With the holidays just around the corner this beautiful first time mom-to-be was looking forward to adding a touch of Christmas to her maternity session so we were all thrilled when Mother Nature came through for us with a fresh snowfall. This December Ottawa had a rather green start to our Winter so the light dusting of snow we received the day before her session was a welcome sight.

The deep teal of my green gown was gorgeous on mom and worked beautifully with the greenery of her succulent wreath. Wreaths are a really popular accessory for maternity sessions right now, I love the touch of femininity and whimsy they add to a woman’s gallery.

While I don’t have a Christmassy red gown as a part of my maternity collection, I do thankfully have the magic of Photoshop at my fingers. I brought along with me to this lovely couple’s session a purple gown with a long flowing train with the intention of transforming it after their session into a deep red. The purple colour ended up looking so beautiful against the early Winter backdrop that we kept some of her photos with a purple gown and changed some to red. After photographing the couple together with their little one I enlisted dad’s help in creating some flowing gown shots of mom on her own. Dad did a fantastic job of tossing the flowing fabric for these very special photos. Mom looked absolutely stunning and I love that they have these gorgeous photos of this very special holiday season as they wait for their little one’s arrival.
