I love helping clients bring their vision to life and for this expectant mom and dad that meant incorporating some very uniquely Ottawa backdrops into their maternity session. The snow covered downtown area of Ottawa offered a beautiful variety of settings for their photos including some really iconic backdrops that were perfect for celebrating the upcoming arrival of their Ottawa born baby.
Our cold Ottawa Winters can make some people want to head indoors but this beautiful mom to be embraced the Winter and rocked her outdoor session! The anticipation and joy this couple has in expecting their little one is overflowing and I was thrilled to a be a part of helping to capture their growing family’s memories.
We started our session in the Byward Market in front of the large Ottawa sign that arrived in our city as part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations. The sign has quickly become one of the most popular places in the city to stop and take a photo so we just had to include it in this couple’s very “Ottawa” maternity session.
When your session is outdoors in the Winter it’s important to keep moving to stay warm so we headed out of the market area stopping on the way to capture some peaceful moments of mom and dad together. At a maternity session the photos of mom and dad alone together are always amongst my favourites. Those last few weeks of just the two of you together as you eagerly await for baby to arrive is always filled with emotion and it shows on their faces so clearly.
We ended our session against the beautiful backdrop of Parliament and even more than I love the look of having such an iconic building in the background of their photos is how this lovely couple and their excitement is still what shines most.
