Every month in 2018 I will be looking for babies and expectant moms for special themed sessions. Occasionally I will use these sessions to photograph new props and backdrops but the purpose of these sessions is ultimately for professional development (experimenting with different light set-ups and poses) and creative fulfillment. I could easily photograph 10 creative sessions a month with the backlog of ideas percolating in my brain but I feel like 2 is a reasonable number if I want to get any sleep in the coming year.
If you are expecting a baby in 2018 or have a little one at home (under 8 months old), please sign up to my special model call list so you don’t miss out on all the details: http://bit.ly/ SMP2018ModelCalls

You can see my my February session here (maternity) and here (newborn)
In March I photographed four very special rainbow babies Aria, Avery, Orson, and Isobel. I also photographed two maternity sessions (you can see those sessions here and here)
This year I designed a special set for Spring Studio Sessions and Mother’s day Sessions. I wanted to incorporate the set into both my creative April sessions and so for my baby session decided to focus on creating a composite image of a little one in a bucket. I frequently create composite images (combining 2-3 images into 1 final image) for my newborn clients but wanted to experiment with the process using an older baby. Mr. B was the perfect model for my photos!
For my maternity session I wanted to focus on incorporating different fabric into the session in lieu of using a gown. I love experimenting with aerial photographs and different themes: oftentimes during the planning process, moms have ideas about incorporating something special into their session and the aerial photographs are a beautiful way to include special flowers or colours aside from using them during the traditional posed shots.
