(1) There is no time like the present to learn how to use all of the features on your mirrorless or DSLR camera. If you keep procrastinating on learning how to use your camera beyond the automatic mode my online Learning to Use Your DSLR class is the perfect solution. The online format makes the course easily accessible to everyone, even to those who struggle to find any spare time in their day for themselves.

(2) All of your learning will take place in the comfort and convenience of your own home via video conferencing. If you find it challenging finding childcare or time to travel to an in person photography class this course is for you!

(3) Are you hesitant to sign up for a course because your busy and unpredictable schedule means you may miss a class or two? I videotape every week’s class so that students are still able to watch if they happen to not be able to attend a scheduled live class.

(4) Online students receive access to my easy to understand 50 page course manual and my online support in a class Facebook group. My manual and course materials will help solidify all of the information you learn from the course.

(5) You will learn quickly! My course is taught online in an interactive way that will see your skills grow with each week of the course. If you sign up for my upcoming online course you will be taking noticeably better photographs in time for Spring and Summer outings and vacations.

(6) The online support and learning is ongoing. Graduates from my classes are invited to join in to a private Facebook group where they can continue to develop their skills in challenges or ask me photography related questions. Graduates of my DSLR course can also further their learning in my Intermediate workshops. Workshop topics include: Baby and Child Photography, Sunsets and Silhouettes, Lifestyle & Documentary photography, Urban Photo Walks, Four-legged friends, and an online Introduction to Editing in Lightroom course.

(7) Distance is not a factor! Every year since I have started offering my popular Learning to Use Your DSLR Course people from outside of Ottawa have asked if I could offer an online version. I’m so happy to now be able to offer my course to all of those who wish to take it.

(8) Taking time for yourself and developing a skill is good for the soul but with a busy schedule it can be so hard to carve out time just for yourself. My online course makes it easier to attend class from the convenience of your own home and will help you to enjoy a new hobby or improve on the skills you already have.

(9) Online classes are great for students who feel shy or find it easier to focus on learning when not in a group environment. I provide lots of opportunity for interaction and discussion but it is all done online for every student’s comfort and convenience.

(10) Learn from an experienced teacher and lifelong photographer. I was fortunate enough to attend a high school where a photography program was offered in lieu of music or visual arts. My technical skills were developed with a twenty year old SLR that had travelled the world with my father before I was born, and I spent endless hours in the darkroom producing my own negatives and prints. On my 25th birthday, I took the leap from traditional film to digital photography. In addition to my experience as a photographer I also have a Masters degree in educational counselling and a professional background in education and group facilitation. The course has been running since the winter of 2014 and I am so excited to now be able to offer it as an online course.

Registration is now open for my Spring 2018 Course, which starts on April 24th

The Learning to Use Your Camera course is also available in person in my Orleans studio
