How do I book my session?
Sessions can be booked online on the website starting April 21st for current and previous clients (e.g., people who have previously had a session with Sara McConnell Photography). Registration begins for new clients on April 22nd (Friday) at 9 am.
Why are sessions scheduled first thing in the morning and in the evening?
The most beautiful light is first thing in the morning and just before sunset. Sessions are scheduled to take advantage of the light but also to ensure that our chosen location isn’t too busy.
There aren’t any session spots available…now what?
Please add your name to my Spring Session Waiting List (I will contact those on the list first for last minute cancellations). Sessions are booked on a first come, first serve basis via our VIP list: you can subscribe here.
How do I pay for my session?
Payment in full is required to secure your session spot. Payment is processed via PayPal.
Why aren’t there more weekend sessions available?
I am one of the only full time photography studios in Ottawa that specializes solely in family, maternity and newborn photography. I am committed to providing excellent customer service as well as artistic memories for my clients and my focus on family, maternity and newborn sessions allows me to offer specialized services that meet the unique needs of every family I work with.
My business operates from Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I have a very limited number of weekend (Saturday morning) and weeknight sessions available.
What are the session options?
There are two session options: a 10 minute Moment Session or a 20 minute Memories Session.
What do sessions cost?
Moment Sessions: 10 minutes long & includes 5 edited and retouched digital images of your choice in colour and black and white as well as 1 complimentary gift print, $199+HST
Memories Sessions: 20 minutes long & includes 10 edited and retouched digital images of your choice in colour and black & white as well as 2 complimentary gift prints, $299+HST
How do we know which session to choose?
If you would like an updated family photo and a photo of your children together, book a Moment Session. If you would like family photos, sibling photos, individual photos of your children, and both candid and posed images of your family together, book a Memories Session.
Is 10 or 20 minutes really enough time?
Absolutely. Families return to me again and again because I work quickly, I make the process fun and enjoyable, and I know how to create beautiful artistic memories in a short period of time. Little ones don’t have long attention spans and my goal is to make the session as fun and stress-free as possible. You can read about my clients experiences here.
Can grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles come to the session?
Moment and Memories sessions are for immediate family members only (parents and their children).
How do I change my session date and time?
Please make sure to choose your session date and time carefully as sessions cannot be rescheduled.
Where will the sessions take place?
General session locations (e.g., east, central) are noted in the booking links. Clients are provided with the specific meeting place the day before the session. The backdrop for sessions will depend on what has grown and is in bloom on the session date. You can see Outdoor Spring Sessions from 2015 here.
What if I want to pick the location of my session?
If you’d like to have your photos taken at a specific location please contact me directly to book an Extraordinary (45 minute) session. These sessions are available on weekdays and weekday evenings.
What happens if it’s raining on the day of our session?
I make the decision to postpone sessions based on satellite images and whether it will be actively raining at the time of our session. This decision is made 90 minutes before the session. Sessions are not rescheduled due to temperature, wet ground, overcast sky etc.
The following cancellation policy is in effect for Spring sessions. If sessions are postponed due to rain your session will take place at the same time it was originally scheduled on the date listed above and in your session description. If there is inclement weather all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday you will be offered one alternate weekend session. There are no exceptions to this policy. If you cannot be present at the listed rain date and someone cannot be found to take your place your session fee will not be refunded nor can it be applied to a future session.
Why can’t we know where the location will be further in advance?
I visit locations the day before my sessions to assess lighting conditions, available backdrops, safety, parking and accessibility. If you’d like to know more about how I choose my locations, please feel free to check out this post I wrote about location scouting.
What do we wear?
I provide my clients with detailed suggestions on what to wear and how to prepare for their sessions.
