“I want to book a photography session with Sara McConnell Photography…but have a few questions”

We’ve put together a blog post with some of the common questions we get before clients book a photography session with us. We hope that you find it help!

1.       We only want a few photos of our family. What is the best option for us?

Moment Sessions are only 10 minutes long and include 5 edited, retouched, and artistically enhanced digital files in colour and black and white.  Sessions are only available on certain days throughout the year and the registration link is released via my newsletter.  To book a Moment session please sign up for my newsletter.

2.       We want to book a photography session for our family but don’t think a 10 minute Moment Sessions is long enough for what we want.  What are our other options?

There are two other choices for families: a 20 minute Memories sessions and a 45 minute Extraordinary session.

If you want to book a weekday Memories session either in studio or outdoors (at a location near the studio), please email info@saramcconell.ca.  Weekend Memories sessions are available in the studio from January to April: during Spring, Summer, and Fall, weekend Memories sessions are all outdoors.

If you want to book an Extraordinary session on a weekday or weekend, please email info@saramcconnell.ca.  Extraordinary sessions take place outdoors as 45 minutes is too long for little ones to be happy in my cozy studio.  The only exception is for maternity sessions.

3.      We can only book a session on the weekend.  What are our options?

Weekend sessions are the most popular and typically book 6-8 weeks in advance.  The most popular times of year for outdoor sessions are Spring and Fall.  Memories sessions (20 minutes) are booked via the newsletter during these times because of the high volume of bookings.  You can see the scheduled dates for those sessions on the website.  At all other times of the year weekend sessions are booked via email at info@saramcconnell.ca

4.  How do we book a holiday themed session (e.g., Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas)?

Themed sessions are offered several times throughout the year and are booked via links provided in the newsletter.  Some sets are only appropriate for children, not family photos, so please check the website to see which set is the best fit for your family.

5. We want to capture all the special moments of our Baby’s First year.  What is the best option for us?

We offer several packages for little ones during their first year.  The Baby’s First Year package includes three sessions (4 months, 8 months, and 12 months) and sessions can include siblings and family members.  These sessions take place on weekdays and the backdrops vary depending on what your preferences are.  All the details can be found here. We also offer Baby’s Extraordinary First Year packages which include either three, six, or twelve themed weekday Moment sessions throughout the year.  You can see tentative dates for those sessions, which are prescheduled, and the themes, here.

6.  I want to take photography classes from you: where can I find all the details?

I offer a Learning to Use your DSLR class for hobbyist photographers as well as intermediate level workshops to graduates of my introductory class.  You can see all the details for my classes and workshops here.  These classes are offered in my Orleans studio on weeknights.  Professional development opportunities are also available for professional photographers.  

7. We are expecting a baby and want to book a maternity session.  What are our options?

Congratulations to you and your family!  There are two options for maternity sessions: Memories sessions (20 minutes) and Extraordinary sessions (45 minutes).  Memories sessions are available in studio or outdoors (at a location near the studio) and Extraordinary maternity sessions are available in studio or at a location of your choice. We typically book sessions for between 30 and 35 weeks.

You can also take advantage of our maternity & newborn packages, which offer a discount to clients who book both a maternity and a newborn session.

8.  We are looking for a newborn photography session and would like to know what our options are?

Newborn photography sessions are available in my fully equipped professional photography studio in Orleans.  There are two session options; a full newborn session and a mini newborn session.  All the details can be found here.  Newborn sessions are pre-booked as we only accept a limited number of due dates each month.  Please contact us during your second or third trimester to pre-book your session, which guarantees you space in our schedule irrespective whether your little one arrives early or late.

There are also two packages available to newborn clients: Maternity & Newborn packages as well as a Baby’s First Year package.

9.  We want to book a session with our extended family members (grandparents, siblings, cousins): what are our options?

At this time I do not photograph events or offer sessions for large family gatherings.

10.  I want to book a boudoir session for myself: what are my options?

At this time I do not offer boudoir photography sessions.

11. My baby is turning one soon and we want to book a first birthday session: what are our options?

We have many backdrops, banners, and props to choose from so that you can custom design a special birthday set for your child. This provides a perfect setting for a cake smash session, photos in a special outfit, or photos of your little one with their favourite stuffed friends or books. The possibilities are endless when designing a first birthday session. Both Memories and Extraordinary First Birthday sessions are booked via email at info@saramcconnell.ca
