School is out and summer vacation has begun! If you follow my Facebook page, you’ll see that on Tuesdays, I often post photography tips.

I’ve rounded up some of my favourite tips that I’ve shared on the page that are related to vacation and travel!

Four major tips when travelling this summer:

1) Take pictures of local currency, people, buildings etc. to really capture where you were. It’s much easier to photograph the small details then to bring home pockets full of coins and treasures.

2) After bringing your camera on a beach vacation consider getting it professionally cleaned: sand and dirt can damage the interior mechanisms of your camera.

3) Travel with several memory cards. If you rely on only one, you may lose too many precious pictures from the trip. Use one camera card for 1-2 days of travel and then store them safely!

4) Perhaps the most important tip of all is to make sure you get in the photos with your kids. Snap some selfies with them, and set the timer on the camera to get a group shot.  Ask other tourists or restaurant staff to take photos of all of you together.
