We had so much fun at our maternity session in the Fall and I was really excited to have this family back into the studio for Baby S’s newborn session. She arrived fashionably late, much to her mom’s surprise, and came into the studio at four days old, just before Christmas.

She was an absolute star: So sleepy and happy to pose and I had so much fun choosing accessories and props to curl her up in. I love the photo of her all curled up in the tiny wooden bowl because it really shows just how small she is. When I am selecting props, I think about options that not only will look great in images, but that are safe and baby friendly. That’s why I tend to select items that feel warm and natural, like soft clothes and wooden features.

When family and sibling photos were done, H and his dad headed out for an adventure and left the girls behind in the studio for the rest of the photos. One of the nicest parts of my job is getting the chance to chat with parents while I’m working with their baby. I love hearing their birth stories and what life has been like at home since the new addition arrived. Hearing their stories reminds me of what it was like each time we brought one of our boys home from the hospital and I’m always amazed at how long ago it seems even though they’re all under 10.
